The Bermuda World Rugby Classic has become an institution, and is now into its 22nd year.

The first tournament was in 1988 and it has grown in strength each year.The standard of play gets better each year and the ferocity of the tackling shows how much it means to the players.The organisation is superb and John Kane and his trusty helpers must be congratulated.The Classic Lions will be defending their title in 2009 and I am sure the other teams will be doing their best to prevent a repeat of 2008!

The Bermuda World Rugby Classic is firmly established as one of the games great annual events.
The Classic is so fortunate to have John Kane at the helm, over all these years he has held an excellent supporting team of workers together. It really is remarkable in these days of agents and contracts they have managed to keep the this world class event amateur. Sometimes I think we have forgotten why we have played this game for well over one hundred years and it is refreshing that the Bermuda World Rugby Classic reminds us of all the things that are precious in this great game. Not only is it the global aspect of the game it is about the camaraderie of rugby as well as the community whihc in this case is Bermuda. It will be a pleasure for me to visit again.
